1. Less work but more result

Most people usually do not work with the maximum performance but in a rather relaxed manner. But if you really care about the results, and not just trying to be "busy", you need to be 100% involved in the work and completely shut down after.

Here the same principle works as with training. In order to achieve maximum results, it is better to do less, but more intensely, and more effectively. And then necessarily allocate time for rest and recovery. So it is with work.

The best results usually fall on short intensive intervals of work for 2-3 hours. Only at this time, it is necessary to concentrate completely and not to be distracted by anything.
It is curious, but unusual decisions often come to mind not when we are sitting at work, and when we "recover." For example, during one study only 16% of respondents said that creative ideas visit them in the workplace2 Characterizing reflective practice in design. Usually, new ideas arise during the rest or on the road.

While we go by car or walk down the street, external stimuli cause in our subconscious mind different thoughts and memories. We jump from one thought to another, being the past, the present, and the future. In this state, the brain establishes connections and looks for solutions to the problems that we have dealt with before.

So, when you "work", be at work. And when "do not work", do not think about it. Giving yourself time to recover, you will do even more than with continuous labor.

3. Do not waste the first three hours for anything

The first three hours after you started the day is the most valuable time for productivity.

First, our brain (namely its prefrontal cortex) is particularly active and ready for creative activity immediately after awakening3 Morning-evening variation in human brain metabolism and memory circuits. While we slept, our subconscious mind worked, establishing temporary and contextual connections.

Secondly, after an overnight rest, we have more energy and willpower reserves. 4 The Physiology of Willpower: Linking Blood Glucose to Self-Control. And during the day, willpower is exhausted and we are tired of making decisions.

We often hear the advice to start the morning with a workout, but this does not suit everyone. Someone with an intense physical load in the morning can not charge with energy, but on the contrary, leave without energy.

It is best for a productive start to the day immediately after breakfast to spend a few minutes meditating and writing in a diary.
Write down goals and plans for the day, as well as everything that comes to your mind. This will help to streamline the thoughts.

Then get down to work. Do not go to social networks and e-mail, just grasp the main thing. After three hours of continuous work, the brain needs a break. Now is the ideal time for sports. After training for a few more hours, go back to work.

Of course, not everyone has the opportunity to live in this order. The main thing, try to follow such rules.

To do more in the morning, get up a few hours earlier than usual, and after dinner go to sleep.
Use the rule "90 - 1", that is, the first 90 minutes of each working day, do your task No. 1.
Plan all meetings and meetings for the afternoon.
In the first three hours of work, do not check the social network and mail. The morning needs to be spent not on consumption, but on creating something. Use all the abilities: hie different services like, ask for help, unite people under your command.

4. Maintain a balanced lifestyle

A balanced life is a key to productivity.
What you do outside of work is as important for productivity as what you do directly in the workplace.

Many studies confirm that productivity is increased in those who regularly engage in sports. After all, the brain is the same organ as the others. And if the whole organism is healthy, then the brain works better.

Even what we eat affects our ability to concentrate on work. A good dream is generally an integral component of productivity (by the way, it will be much better to sleep if you get up early and work hard).

In addition, many psychologists believe that productivity and creativity also require a "game". Psychiatrist Stuart Brown, for example, wrote about this whole book. He is convinced that the game positively influences our thinking, improving memory and concentration, developing mathematical abilities, creative approach to solving problems and even social skills. 5 The cognitive benefits of play: Effects on the learning brain.

5. Listen to music on repeat

Psychologist Elizabeth Helmut Margulis believes that listening to music on repetition helps us to concentrate. When we listen to the same song, we usually "dissolve" in it, and this does not allow us to be distracted and hovers in the clouds (this is useful to do after work).

This trick is used, for example, by the founder of WordPress, Matt Mullenweg, writers Ryan Holiday and Tim Ferris. Try and you.

For example, using the Listen On Repeat site, you can
