The Model Driven Software Network

Raise your level of abstraction

We have published a very interesting video about Model Driven Development and Code Generation of .Net applications using Xomega.

What do you think of this video? Any feedback will be very much appreciated.

congrats, good work, I miss some things in the basic version, for example in my tool for code generation I have two modes, in the first I can create search and detail forms like in your basic version, but I also have another mode in where I can create snippets, for example a snippet for a grid so I don't have to remember and make the code for a grid of for a repeater or anything (I suppose that this is what you call custom generators that comes with the full version). I will download your tool and will take a look to the code.

Thanks for the good feedback.

Yes, right now the form that gets generated including the layout is part of the generator, and you can customize it in the full version. We're planning to separate it into a separate template that would be used by the generator, similar to how the generation of the documentation works. This will allow customizing the generated form in the basic version also.

If you have manually customized the generated form then you want to rename it so that the generator does the overwrite your changes. If you later make changes to the model, you can regenerate the form and then copy and paste relevant snippets into then manually customized form as needed.

If you're looking for static snippets however, then I think Visual Studio allows you to create your own snippets that you can invoke from the editor. Not sure if this is what you were referring to.
