Agreed, Vlad.

Open source is an illusion. Unless you get some critical mass on an open source project (like Eclipse), all you have is an uncertain future. Of course there is a degree of uncertainty in every company but in an open source project there is no real commitment. Developers don't depend on the project's (non-existing) income, therefore they can quit when they feel to (or have more interesting things to do). Just visit Sourceforge and pick some random projects...

With ABSE and AtomWeaver I'm going the "freemium" route. If people like the zero cost and limited features of open-source software, they can get that with AtomWeaver's free edition - After all, nobody really cares about having access to the source code, they just like the software being free. If they want more and are prepared to invest, they can buy the real, great, paid version. There is also the advantage of a seamless upgrade path.

Thanks everyone for feedback. I also agree about the non open source tools.
I'll continue to evaluate EA and giving feedback to you...
(sorry i didn't reply earlier)...
It would be a good move if others could give their perceptions of other no open source tools. It so many e very few time for just one person to do that.
(just for example BluAge, that seems a excellent tool - and expensive if comparing to EA - If I remember Bluage prices).

You should try MagicDraw, IMHO it's the best non open source tool. There is a great support team, the "must have" features such as : DSL customization, teamwork capabilites, ready to use profiles, great open API, velocity templating for reports, and so on...

Thanks everybody for the informations...
It's important to know the level of quality of the code generated on those tools, since we will invest money and time (and time to live with it) .... in order to bind our expectative with the real source code delivered (and other deliverables) .
Bluage was the first mdd(or mde) software that I found on the internet. And such as most people , I link the 'quality/style/volume of contents' of their website with the quality of the tool, (and price too). Then I was discovering another ones... EA/Together..
Magic Draw, no doubt is the most popular uml modeler (non open source)...
For me (what I'm looking for) I believe a tool for mid-size projetcs with code generator (wish a high level one) would suits my needs. And a tool the meets all OMG features and GoF paterns, and generating xmi files...in a way that you can substitute it without losing the projects it has created.

I've found a 2003 comparison in (http://consulting.dthomas.co.uk) between Rational and EA .
